Bruce and Kim Ringer were the first two
nationally Certified Pet Dog Trainers in western PA. Becky Panzak,
their assistant has recently passed the Certified Pet Dog Training test.
So Ringer's Pet Dog Training has three Certified Pet Dog Trainers (CPDT) as
class instructors.
Bruce and Kim met while Bruce was walking his
german shepherd puppy. Since then their lives have revolved around
dogs.
They have been teaching dog classes since 1986.
While living in FL, they taught obedience classes for several dog clubs
around Tampa and for the Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation Dept.
They have shown their german shepherds in various
sports including; agility, obedience, conformation and also participated at
schutzhund trials. Currently, Bruce and his dog Onyx are part of
a Search and Rescue group. They responded to the 9/11 crash in PA.
They worked at a local kennel for five years,
where they were able to study dogs under stress and to help calm the dogs
during their stay.
They attend over 100 hours of dog training and
behavior seminars a year. These seminars are typically their vacation.
Even their "time off" involves dogs. They are charter members of the
Association of Pet Dog Trainers. They have attended every annual
conference and the mini-conferences.
Bruce has a degree in drafting, he is a certified
welder and was a union Sheet Metal Worker. In 1996, Bruce quit his job
and went into dogs full time. Kim was a systems engineer in her last
corporate job, when she left corporate America in 2000.
